A Different Perspective With Jon Harder
JL Rivera - The Target
What a crazy few months it has been in American Championship Entertainment. On the heels of the most unpredictable ACE show in history with Anarchy: Battlebowl, ACE's future is out in the forefront for the next few months. It all culminated with the insane turn of events that happened after the main event on August 13.
Immediately after ACE Heavyweight champion Jorge Luis Rivera pinned "the International Ambassador of the ACES" Savio Vega with a small package, "the ACE of Spades" Danny Maff and ACE owner Mike Morgan jumped in the ring and started a three-on-one assault on Rivera. Just as the fans in Union City thought the ACE champion was in trouble, Rivera ducked underneath the bottom rope and ran for cover. The native from Guayanilla, Puerto Rico grabbed the microphone from ring announcer Ken Carrera and started to go on about the history of Savio Vega and someone Rivera knew very well in Puerto Rico. The heated history between the two men that Rivera discussed was something that came off VERY personal. Once it came to the challenge that the ACE champion offered, it was very clear who Rivera was discussing. At Rise 2 Power, the match was made as Danny Maff and Savio Vega will go two-on-two in a tag team extravaganza against Jorge Luis Rivera and CARLITO COLON!!! That match, which was made 3 months in advance, should be something outstanding.
Just as the fans started to let that massive match that was made sink in, the ACE Owner immediately grabbed the microphone. Morgan announced that instead of worrying just about November 12, the ACE Heavyweight champion will have a title defense on September 10 at Collision Course, as Rivera will go one-on-one with the ALMIGHTY SHEIK! A shocked look on JL's face came on as Morgan started bowing down at the video graphic on the ACE Tron of the madman from the Middle East. Just an insane way to end the night that set up the main event scene for two big shows in ACE over the next three months.
For Jorge Luis Rivera, the target is now on his chest. Holding the 15 pounds of gold makes him an immediate target for EVERY competitor in the company. Savio Vega was the match 11 months in the making back in August. The Sheik is September. Also, Danny Maff is always waiting in the wings to cash in his return match for the ACE Heavyweight championship he lost at Crossroads VII on July 9. The Guayanilla native is a veteran of the sport for 15 years and now he is on top of the mountain. Who, if anyone, is strong enough to knock him off the peak? Only time can tell.
What an insane few months it will be for the ACE Heavyweight champion. If he can somehow survive the Sheik on 9/10/11, then his date with destiny will take place, teaming with the young fiery Puerto Rican superstar Carlito against the ACES on November 12. The Boricua Badass is ready for the task, as well as the ACE fans. And remember, it's not just my perspective on the topic; it's just an overall Different Perspective.
